I’ve been doing “aesthetic” translations of the psalms. I find the King James versions to be more formal and less immediate than what I think I find in the originals. I don’t know if anyone would consider them aesthetically pleasing, but I have fun anyway. <\/p>\n

This is a translation of Psalm 16. <\/p>\n
\nKeep an eye on me, won't you?\n I think I'm going to hide\n Here with you for a while.\n\nYahweh, you are in charge,\n And I've got nowhere else to go.\n\nYour strange people \n --- they are incredible.\n I get happy just watching them.\n\nThose who run after others are rich\n --- Rich in sorrow.\n\nI won't toast them --- they drink blood\n --- Or even mention their names.\n\nYahweh, you are my share of the feast\n And my drink;\n You are watching out for me.\nMy piece of the action is spectacular;\n My share glistens like gold.\n\nI can't say enough \n About Yahweh who mentors me;\n Even at night he whispers down deep.\n\nYahweh is always first in my thoughts,\n Right there so I won't fall.\n\nI am sure glad\n --- My heart is jumping for joy\n --- I finally feel safe.\n\nYou won't abandon me to die,\n Or let a guy who trusts in you even see\n The filthy pit they intended me for.\n\nYou explained to me the way of life.\n There is nothing but joy where you are\n --- Pleasure at your right hand forever.\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I’ve been doing “aesthetic” translations of the psalms.
