I’ve been doing “aesthetic” translations of the psalms. I find the King James versions to be more formal and less immediate than what I think I find in the originals. I don’t know if anyone would consider them aesthetically pleasing, but I have fun anyway. <\/p>\n

These are not intended to be exact from a scholarly perspective, but to be poems. <\/p>\n

This is a translation of Psalm 130 <\/p>\n

With Bated Breath<\/H1><\/p>\n
\nOut of the depths I cry to you, Yahweh.\n  Lord, hear my voice!\n    Open your ear to my prayer.\n\nIf you, Yah, should start \n  Tracking our perversity,\n    Lord, who could stand?\n\nBut with you there is pardon:\n  We are astonished.\n\nI look for Yahweh\n  With bated breath!\nI hope in his word\n  With bated breath\n    Like watchmen for morning\n    Like watchmen for morning.\n\nIsrael, hope in Yahweh!\n  Because in Yahweh is faithful love\n    And abundant deliverance.\n\nHe will deliver Israel\n  From all his perversity.\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
