A step or two.\nJump. Fly. Why not?\nThink of the fun. There's life.\nOr death - what's the difference?\n\nWhirling incoherence. Can I master it?\nName it? Stop the whirling? Whirl with it?\nNavigate eddies? Currents?\nJoin the dance? Make it serve my will?\n\nCan I name the stars? All of them?\nFind peace from familiarity?\nBut familiarity casts out fear\nAnd fear brings frenzy. Is that fun?\n\nDo as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.\nIf I can\nIf the universe does not slap me down\nIf it approves of me.\n\nRide the wave\nMaster the turbulence\nBe more than I can be\nRise to the occasion.\n\nBut what do I want to do?\nA goal is just an end\nDeath\nOr you start again.\n\nA thrill-ride\nYou get off and rush\nSisyphus-like\nTo get on again.\n\nIncoherence. Thanatopsis.\nBear starboard a little.\nOff the port bow - rocks of insanity.\nHow do I know? Have I been here before?\n\nIs this the ship of death?\nThe last voyage?\nWill irony envelop me---\nToo reserved to seek a goal, too unfocused to reach one?\n\nWhat am I doing?\nI really am crazy.\nAddicted to the twang of nerves\nSirenic vandalization of tranquility.\n\nI need not do this\nBut the sea-nymph's song is always there\nThe lure of infinite joy\nThe reality of infinite pain.\n\nBut maybe\nJust maybe\nI'll get it right\nThis time.\n\n- March 2019\n\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An edge.
